Digital revolution

CHENNAI: The electronic revolution seems to be setting in at a rather quick pace, and promises to be better than before. The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Periyar Maniammai University for the launch of a Digital Publishing Course, the first of its kind in the country. The MoU was signed in the presence of K Ponmudi, Minister for Higher Education, Tamil Nadu.

The launch also saw some well-known names from the education and corporate sector like CK Ranganathan from Cavin Kare, Sriram Subramanya, MD and CEO of Integra, and K Veeramani, Chancellor of the Periyar Maniammai University.

“This is an age of communication evolution and I appreciate CII and Periyar Maniammai UNiversity for their initiative. There is rapid change taking place with regard to technology and it should be used to further employment and education”, said K Ponmudi at the launch.

CII will provide the curriculum and syllabus for the three year Bachelor of Science course in Digital Publishing which is expected to increase the employment opportunities by 20,000 jobs. “Online learning, virtual classrooms and and quality education from experienced faculty will make this course a success,” said Dr K Veermani, Chancellor the university “In addition to all of this, we will also offer placements to all our students”, he added.

Being the first to introduce the course in India, the University will offer the course through their four study centres in Thanjavur, Trichy, Chennai and Delhi. In the second phase, it will be extended to the other centres spread across the country.
