Infosys in Tirchy ?

TIRUCHI: Infosys Technologies will take up its expansion programmes to tier II cities only after the global economy recovers from the current wave of recession, said its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, S. Gopalakrishnan.

Delivering a lecture on ‘Infosys: the legendary journey’ at a meeting ‘Members Fellowship Evening’ organised by the Tiruchi Zone of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here on Friday, Mr. Gopalakrishnan, who is also the Deputy Chairman of CII, Southern Region, said that expansion to Tier II cities formed ‘part of our philosophy’ and in fact, the Infosys Technologies Limited had already founded its roots in Tier II cities across the country, including Mysore, Mangalore and Chandigarh. “When recovery (from recession) starts, we may start in Tier II cities in Tamil Nadu including Tiruchi and Madurai,” he said.

He said that even in the downtrend, Infosys had not lost even a single customer. Adherence to the principle of respect from all quarters -- investors, customers, bureaucrats and employees had been the key factor for its overall success.

“Investors benefit due to attractive returns; prompt payment of taxes and abiding by the law of the land have drawn the respect from official machinery,” he said.

Tracing the ordeals the firm faced during its inception, he said that strict adherence to values, especially maintaining respect, strengthened its legendary journey.

Chairman of CII, Tamil Nadu, and Chairman and Managing Director of Cavin Kare Pvt. Ltd. C. K. Ranganathan delivered a special address on ‘Entrepreneurship - scaling up in business’.

Chairman, CSR Sub-Committee, T. T. Ashok, gave a presentation on ‘e-lawn’.

Chairman, CII, Tiruchi Zone, Leo Ananth J and its vice-chairman S. Gopinath were among those who spoke.
