University to offer MBA in hospital management

Bharathidasan University here will introduce an MBA course in Hospital Management from the current academic year under the Department of Biomedical Science in the School of Basic Medical Sciences in association with leading hospitals in and around Tiruchi.

In a release, Sashidhar Mulugu, Head of the Department of Biomedical Science, said hospital management was one of the top five areas of employment in the world and Bharathidasan University was the first to offer an opportunity to young graduates to make healthcare sector a career option.

Mr.Mulugu said the department, which was started in 2005, was already offering a five-year M.Sc integrated course in biomedical science. Two batches of students have already graduated and many of them are pursuing Ph.D.

The new MBA course in Hospital Management would offer an alternative option to science graduates interested in medical field.

Graduate in science, medicine, engineering, management or humanities with a minimum of 55 per cent marks could join the programme.

Applications can be downloaded from the Bharathidasan University's website `www.bdu.ac.in' and with the fee of Rs.300 for all and Rs.150 for SC/ST candidates can be submitted to the Head, Department of Biomedical Science, School of Basic Medical Science, Bharathidasan Univesity, Tiruchi-620024 on or before June 30.

Candidates will be selected after an entrance test and group discussion according to a release from the Registrar.
